Mini Camp

Mini Camp is a week-long day camp created in 1997 to serve children ages 4-6 who have cancer or blood related disorders.  It was created to fill the need for children too young to attend an overnight camp, but who could still benefit from the fun and excitement of a camp experience.

Mini Camp is held during the same week and at the same location as Camp Rainbow, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  An experienced camp director and dedicated young adult staff oversee Mini Camp, giving constant, nearly one-on-one attention to the campers.  A full medical staff is always on hand, for immediate as well as ongoing medical needs of the campers.

Campers participate in special age-appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, drama, music, nature activities, sports, swimming, and more.  They follow the daily themes of Camp Rainbow and integrate these themes into some of the camp activities.  The younger campers at Mini Camp really enjoy our special visitors each day, especially the clowns, magicians, and the firefighters with their fire trucks!

As with the overnight camp, the most important consideration is always the health and well-being of our youngest campers. We feel it is the perfect introduction to Camp Rainbow for the little ones, most of whom leave Mini Camp excited to return the following summer for the sleepover camp!
