Mini Day Camp Rainbow
Beginning in June, 1997, a mini day camp for one week
was set up for 4 and 5 year olds with cancer or blood
related disorders. Mini Camp is held during the same week
and at the same place as Camp Rainbow. From 9:00 a.m.
to 3:00 p.m. these campers participate in special age
appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, drama,
music, nature activities, sports, swimming and more. They
follow the daily themes of Camp Rainbow and integrate
into some camp activities. Two adults and two unit heads
oversee Mini Camp. The older campers also help out during
the week.
Teen
Camp Rainbow
Teen Camp began in January 1990 as a weekend camping experience
for teens with cancer or blood related disorders. Special
themes for the weekend deal with communication, relationships,
and self-esteem. The teens are involved in activities
such as bowling, challenge course, nature hikes, games,
movies, arts and crafts and more. They cook meals and
take a leadership role in some of the activities.
