Volunteer OpportunitiesJoin our Camp Rainbow family and help make dreams come true for seriously ill childrenCamp Rainbow staff consists entirely of volunteers who graciously donate their time and energies all year long. Many return year after year. They help with food service, arts and crafts, recreational leadership, one-on-one assistance, child care and more. Volunteering for Camp Rainbow is much like the week of Camp itself: life changing, unique and rewarding. As a Camp volunteer, you'll appreciate the feeling of a shared purpose, pride in a common goal, and the privilege of being surrounded by some of the most remarkable people you'll ever meet. Each program Camp Rainbow sponsors requires volunteers. Camp Rainbow our one-week sleepover camp, requires approximately 100 volunteers. Mini Camp requires 6-8 volunteers. The camps strive to provide a ratio of 1 volunteer for every camper. Teen Camp Rainbow requires approximately 15-20 volunteers, and Camp-In requires approximately 24-40 volunteers. You can help be a part of these wonderful experiences for children and their families. In order to effectively run these cost-free programs, we recruit more than 200 volunteers every year. In addition to the volunteers who help out during the week of Camp, we are always in need of bright and energetic individuals to help out with “behind the scenes” tasks, such as soliciting donations, buying supplies, designing and distributing flyers, and writing grants for camp programs. These are jobs that are ongoing all Volunteers range in age from 15-80 and come from all over the United States. Full- time and part- time volunteer positions are available. We have been blessed to work with individuals from all walks of life, including doctors, nurses, teachers, business executives, full-time homemakers, and students. While each volunteer's experience at Camp Rainbow is very individual, there is a universal sense among those who have gone before you that this is a profoundly rewarding experience. We hope you will choose to be part of helping these children and their families enjoy a week of fun, learning and relaxation. All prospective staff members and volunteers participate in an application and interview process to ensure the safety and care of our participants. Core Staff members are provided with room and board during their stay at Camp if they do not live in the St. Louis area. Camp staff will provide their own transportation to and from camp.
