Dear Camp Rainbow Family,
You have been in our thoughts these last few weeks. As we monitor the COVID-19 situation in our area, we repeatedly focus on the health and safety of you, our camp community.
Today, I must share with you the difficult and disappointing news that we believe is in the best interest of our campers, volunteers, staff, and camp community. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and following the recommendations of our trusted medical advisory board, we will not be hosting Summer Overnight Camp, Day Camp, or SIBS Camp this summer. However, we continue to plan for Family Camp over Labor Day weekend.
This decision was incredibly hard and heartbreaking, but our staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors is committed to making the most of this unfortunate and certainly unprecedented situation. We believe Camp Rainbow is a magical place and a special community. Although we are distanced for now, we have plans to bring a piece of the Camp Rainbow magic into the homes of our camper families later this summer. Our campers will have the chance to see their friends and play games together, participate in arts & crafts, no-bake cooking, and nature activities, join our volunteers around a campfire to sing favorite camp songs, and even participate in a jell-o toss, color war, and messy day fun!
We know this difficult time will pass and when it does, we will be ready to continue to provide the magical camp moments you know and love! Always remember at Camp Rainbow you may come as an individual but you leave as a member of our family…we are looking forward to being together again as a family around a campfire soon.
Stay safe and be well,
Camp Rainbow Foundation
Wait! I am a volunteer staff. What does this mean for me?
We recognize that this is a disappointment and loss for our amazing Camp Rainbow Volunteer Staff as well. We are so appreciative of the commitment and dedication of the many individuals who have made Camp Rainbow a special place for nearly 8,000 campers since 1988. We still need your passion, commitment, excitement, and skills. Please reach out to Tricia to let us know your interest in helping this summer or visit our website to learn more ways you can help Camp Rainbow.
